The best time to visit Amman is during Spring or Autumn, when temperatures are comfortable and not too hot or too cold. The Amman Fortress is a great place in which to start your visit. Built in the 12th century, it served as a military base till the 20th century, and now offers a museum with information about Jordanian culture and history. From the fortress you can view the whole city and its surroundings. Other wonderful sites to visit in Amman include the King Hussein Mosque, built in 1992 by King Hussein I who ruled the country between 1952-1999.

In Amman’s Old City you’ll find Roman archaeological sites and medieval mosques. Visit the important sites of the Umayyad Palace, the Temple of Hercules and the Roman Theater, as well as the King Abdullah Gardens or the National Museum. You can explore the city’s colorful markets, and if you’re looking for a bit of fresh air, visit one of the city’s many parks or take a walk in one of its beautiful gardens, hundreds of years old, with ancient fountains, flowers and trees. The food in Amman is amazing, a result of the mix of cultures and hundreds of years of traders of the Silk Road passing through the city, sharing spices and culinary knowledge.
