Azerbaijan is a country in the Caucasus region with access to the Caspian Sea. It borders on Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Iran. The country is Shiite-Muslim, but the atmosphere in it is very secular and it is known for its religious tolerance towards visitors and tourists of all religions. During the Cold War, Azerbaijan was part of the Soviet Union, and won its independence in the ‘90s when the Soviet state collapsed.

Azerbaijan is a mostly rural country, but is also an oil and natural gas empire whose economy relies on oil products, farm produce, fishing, mineral mining and over the past decade, tourism. The country’s geography is quite mountainous, especially in its center, and its natural areas are full of forests, big lakes, green pastures and parks. Because of its proximity to the sea, its climate is mostly mild, but it can get very hot or rainy at times. Azerbaijan offers a wide selection of attractions and destinations for tourists and travelers, including historical sites, markets and market restaurants, ancient relics and buildings, archaeology, as well as impressive modern cities.

With the rise in tourism to Azerbaijan came the rising interest of foreign investors in the country. Real estate investors started flowing into the city as early as the previous decade, taking advantage of the fact that the country is considered safe and stable for business. Properties in Azerbaijan are sold for relatively low prices in comparison to the rest of Europe and the profits are high, especially when improvement is done on them before the sale. Foreign investors enjoy the same rights given to local investors in the country, which makes conducting business in the country smoother and simpler.

In the past few years, many businesspeople and real-estate investors have also taken an interest in the country, and have been swarming in, opening businesses and companies and investing in housing projects on the main peninsula or the islands. The local authorities welcome this trend and offer assistance to businesspeople who wish to conduct business or invest in Greece. The trend is followed by an increase in money coming into the country and is expected to continue, helping Greece overcome and recover from the economic depression it fell into during the previous decade.
