Antalya

Airport: Antalya International Airport

Antalya sits on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, in south-west Turkey, at the center of the Turkish Riviera. It is home to more than half a million people. The area has been an important trade hub for the Ancient Greeks, Romans and Byzantines. The city has thousands of years’ worth of history and culture, starting at its foundation in 190 BC by Attalus II Philadelphus of Pergamon under the name Attalya. It has later become one of the major cities of the Roman Empire, with its seaport functioning as a main trading point between Rome and India. The area was conquered by the Seljuk Turks before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in 1453 AD, and has been known as Antalya (or Anatolia) since that time. The weather in Antalya is hot and dry during the summer, with an average temperature of 30 degrees centigrade. The winters are mild, with an average temperature of 15 degrees centigrade.

Antalya is a highly popular tourist destination for people from all over the world. Millions visit it every year, and this number is constantly growing. It is a city of many faces: an ancient settlement with modern architecture, a place where East meets West. The Mediterranean climate, the rich history and culture and the wonderful cuisine are only some of the reasons for which people love vacationing in the area so much. Antalya features natural attractions such as waterfalls and hot springs. Tourists can enjoy many activities, such as walking on the beach, visiting the historical sites or shopping in the local markets, practicing marine sports, visiting shopping streets, etc. Antalya’s shoreline is over 100 km long, and has isolated inlets where you can swim, work on your suntan, surf and fish. The city also offers a wild nightlife and many luxury resorts in the all-inclusive style.

Antalya is a center for both local and international business. Antalya is a safe city with good infrastructure, the fastest-growing city in the country and relatively close to Istanbul. It hosts many fairs and conferences that have made it a favorite meeting point for people in business and investment. Its economy relies on tourism, but not exclusively. Over the past few years, Antalya has become highly attractive to local and international investors for the many advantages it offers them, such as incentives provided by the Turkish government like free land, free water and tax reductions. This is why Antalya has lately been enjoying a growing number of foreign investments.
