Burgas

Airport: Burgas International Airport (Sarafovo)

Burgas is a seaside resort on the Black Sea which has been settled as early as the Stone Age, and you can still see relics of the ancient settlement in the city’s Ethnography Museum and History Museum. In our time, the city is a lively town that features Bulgaria’s biggest and most important seaport. Burgas has a large oil industry, alongside tourist sites, sunny beaches under a pleasant Mediterranean climate, large hotels of all the leading hotel chains and a large number of tourists visiting it annually.

Burgas is a multicultural tourist resort with a liberal and laid-back vibe. Alongside casinos that attract visitors, the city also offers bars, restaurants and cafes, as well as unique attractions. One of those is the pink Salt Lake (Atanasovsko), whose mud and waters are considered medically beneficial, and where thousands of water birds live. Further attractions include a delightful shopping pedestrian mall, a zoo and the summer Sand Festival, during which artists create huge sand statues on the beach. A long wharf takes you straight into the Black Sea, coming out of the impressive Sea Garden Park. The island of St. Anastasia just in front of the city’s port is also worth visiting.

The food in Burgas is an attraction on its own. The city’s wonderful restaurants serve traditional Bulgarian treats as well as fresh sea food, fish and modern luxury dishes. Some of the eateries also offer traditional musical and dance shows on top of a good meal.

Burgas also draws in many real estate investors, who develop hotels, tourist attractions and resorts in the city. With the rest of Bulgaria, Burgas, too, has been experiencing significant economic recovery and growth over the past few years. Major transportation lines go through the city, and it has efficient and advanced public transportation. The relatively low housing prices in comparison to the rest of Europe and the many tourists that visit the city make it a popular location for investments in AirB&B-style apartments for rental.
