Cairo, Egypt’s capital on the River Nile, is a crowded and huge city of more than 20 million habitants. The city attracts millions of tourists each year for its unique attractions. One of the most famous tourist attractions in the world are the Pyramids of Giza, the only world wonder out of the seven of the Ancient World to survive today. They can be found at the outskirts of the city, and you can sign up for a guided tour in them through your hotel. Similarly, you can visit the Luxor and Saqqara archaeological sites which are also nearby.
The pyramids are certainly not the only attraction the city has to offer. It has some of the world’s biggest and best museums, such as the Egyptian Museum. These museums display Ancient Egyptian artifacts and tell Ancient Egypt’s history. If you’re interested in history and architecture, you can visit the ancient bazaar at Khan-El-Khalili, in the Old Cairo area, in the Salah-A-Din fortress from the Middle Ages and in the city’s glorious mosques.
In the city’s modern area, visit the Cairo Tower that rises to a height of almost 200m, walk alongside the riverbank, taste and buy in the crammed Aswan Market, see the lovely Opera House, do some shopping and hang out in the city’s legendary night clubs. The city features a huge square – El Tahrir, that has become well known in the previous decade for its part in the “Arab Spring.” There different activities to see in the square, shows and celebrations during holidays.
You can eat very well in Cairo, choosing between traditional Egyptian dishes and modern cuisines from all over the world, or the international fast-food chains.
