Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city, is a magical, relatively small city which mingles diverse cultural sources from the East and West of Europe with historical relics from the Middle Ages, museums, art galleries, parks, lively markets, festivals, modern restaurants and cafes. The past and the present live in it side by side, and it isn’t rare to see ancient castles and fortresses right next to brand new shopping malls that, by the way, offer very affordable shopping opportunities. The city’s traditional architecture includes mosaic-decorated houses, magnificent fountains, bridges on the river that passes through the city, picturesque narrow alleys and paved streets.

The old Rivers Fountain awaits you in front of the City Hall, built just before the Renaissance period. If you love markets, the covered market of the Pillars Bridge will be interesting to visit. The city also has a colorful fruit and flowers market worth visiting if you have the time.
