Zagreb

Airport: Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb

Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and the largest city in the country. It has over 800,000 residents and is situated in the north-west corner of Croatia. Today Zagreb is an important center of culture, education and business in Croatia. Tourism is a major section in Zagreb’s economy. In 2017, it was responsible for around 8% of Croatia’s GDP, and over 18% of its export. Zagreb is a very safe city with low crime rates. It has been chosen as one of the 10 safest cities of Europe in the Economist's Safe Cities Index 2017, which rated 60 European cities’ performances in the fields of digital progress, health, infrastructure and personal safety.

Zagreb has a lot to offer tourists. It has many historical sites, beautiful parks, museums and cultural attractions, monuments, restaurants and other attractions worth visiting. The average temperature in the city is very comfortable, around 20 degrees centigrade almost all year long, which makes it a great tourist destination in any season. Zagreb’s Old City region has two parts – Kaptol and Gradec. Both are filled with churches, museums, galleries and theaters. One of the most famous sites of the Old City is the St. Marco’s Church in the Trg Bana Jelacica (Jelacic) Square. There you’ll also find the Zagreb Cathedral and the Tkalčićeva Promenade, which has botanical gardens, shops and many restaurants.

Additional interesting sites in Zagreb are the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) with its narrow alleys, and the Lower Town (Donji Grad), with its unique vibe coming from the numerous bars and restaurants in the area. Other popular sites in Zagreb are the Stone Gate, the Dolac Market, Zagrebačka Avenue and the Strossmayerovo Promenade. Zagreb is known for its great cuisine and its wine culture. You’ll be able to enjoy many restaurants offering traditional Croatian food and wines from all over the country. Zagreb has many green areas and parks, too, of which the most popular are Bundek Park and Jarun lake.

Zagreb is an attractive destination for investors as well, particularly in real estate. It offers a wide range of investment opportunities for locals and foreigners alike. Foreigners who wish to invest in Zagreb real estate can choose from a variety of properties available in the market – from apartments and offices to stores and storage facilities, in renewable energy projects or retail business ventures. Zagreb offers many benefits for investors, such as great infrastructure and low work costs that make it very worthwhile.
