Tirana is the capital city of Albania, the jewel in the crown, visited by more and more tourists and businesspeople from all over the world with every passing year. The city features diverse architecture styles, from ancient Ottoman mosques, through Italian architecture and communist style building to modern, contemporary construction. Above the city rises a the Dajti mountain, 1000m high. You can get to its top by cable car, and from there enjoy a full view of the city and its surroundings.
There is a big square in the city, Skanderbeg Square, where you can find the country’s National Theater, National Library, the Albanian Opera House, the National Gallery of art, the Museum of History, an archaeological museum, a pretty clock tower, the E’tham Bey Temple and the Pyramid Museum, built by dictator Hoja to honor his own name and now a grim symbol of his megalomania and personality cult. Next to the square you can see Hoja’s residence. A tourist center called Rruga Ded Gjo Luli is also nearby. The city’s “Bllok” area is its entertainment and fun center, where you can enjoy a wide selection of restaurants and cafes.
Tirana is the Albania’s commercial, business and industrial center, and many real-estate investors are now flowing into it to purchase beach houses, commercial properties and other kinds of investment properties. A major part of the country’s population resides in the city, and it is also a university town which attracts students from all over the country who need accommodation.
